Good morning. This week has been crazy. It’s been one of those weeks where you’re just trying to make it through the day at hand. What has helped me get through this week was the release of Tyga’s new album, “Careless World-Rise of the Last King”
I want to preface this post by saying that before I heard this album, I did not care much for Tyga’s music. I had some in my iPod, but it was more for people to listen to when they rode with me in the car. I saw him as a subpar rapper. However, this album completely changed my opinion of Tyga. For one, the production value was up there with any elite album (side note: That’s what really determines the mainstream success of an album-if the instrumental is on point. Think of all the great lyricists that weren’t heard because the track sounded boring). Back to the production value, every producer that was present on this album did a good job constructing tracks that were conducive to the style and flow that Tyga employed. That’s what stood out about the album to me. It seemed like every track was filled with dramatic and soaring instrumentals that resonated with your deep emotions. I also noted that though the album had a plethora of features from some of the biggest artists, Tyga did not take the lazy way out. He carried every single track and let every feature be just that, a feature. I had to respect it because his lyrical style has matured since his mixtapes. The work he put in during his mixtape stage showed in this album as his style was more polished. Don’t take my word for it though; get the album.
